Findhelp.org is a free online search and referral platform that helps people find social services in their communities.  It offers an extensive list of local programs which offer free or reduced-cost services like education, employment, food, housing, healthcare, legal service, transit, and more.

211 Is Maryland’s most comprehensive health and human services information and referral system. You can dial 211 on your phone to speak with someone who is trained to help with essential needs such as housing, food, utility health, children and families, legal questions, employment.  You can also search for information and community resources online through https://211md.org/contact-us/.

It is a free service.  Translation is available in 150 languages and It is accessible for the deaf and hard of hearing through Maryland Relay (Dial 7-1-1)

Interfaith Works

Interfaith Works (IW) is not a religious organization but a nonprofit organization which provides short-term, emergency shelter; longer-term, community-based supportive housing programs; free clothing, free household goods, and free food distribution; referrals for families and individuals to services like legal assistance healthcare, and English classes and financial help with rent and utilities; and vocational services to help people find and maintain sustainable employment.
